Yes! Considering the response I’ve gotten to my annotations of previous issues, I figured I should do a set for this year’s annual issue, which is my longest project to date, and has plenty to talk about. Join me below the cut for some behind-the-scenes info about the MLP 2014 Annual, starring the Power ponies, as drawn by the brilliantly talented Ben Bates!
Guys! Check it out! My “ponysona,” Inky Quills, is in the new My Little Pony comic! I’m a canon horse now and nobody can ever take that away from me. Thanks, Ted Anderson, the greatest human being who ever lived!
This is the happiest I’ve been since the day I got my cutie mark!
Huh is it just me or did you make a font out of your handwriting recently? Was that a time-saving measure? Also, it's beautiful and you should consider selling it on Creative Market or something.
I did! I’ve been finding it hard to keep my hand lettering consistent while drawing Back, so I gave a font another shot (using yourfonts.com; I had tried making one long ago, but my lettering is much better now and the font looks far superior to my old one). And yes, it does save a huge amount of time. I wish I had tried it (again) long ago.
I don’t think I will ever make it public, though. My lettering is something unique to my comics which I’ve spent years developing and I don’t really like the idea of other people using it.
Yeah, that makes sense. A font made from your own handwriting would look better if you’re already good at hand lettering.
